Preschool Mothers Day gifts

So being a preschool teacher/freelance illustrator I have many duties to fulfill and this week one of those duties was have the class create their Mothers Day gifts.

So what mother doesn't love a keepsake hand print, I know my mom still has mine from back in 1992 when I was only 4 1/2 years old, So that is where I got this great idea to do hand prints....who knew it would take an entire week to do but hey that's the price you pay for bring out the creative juices on a bunch of 2 1/2-3 year olds.

First they painted 2 coffee filters....then a flower design, then with my assistance created a coffee filter flower day 1 check

Then I gave each student a canvas board in which they painted twice that only took 2 days

Then it was time for the words which I did as they looked over my shoulder that look another day

then Finally it was time for the hand prints that took an entire day but all in all they are complete

Plus I have already been told by some of the moms how beautiful they came out so big plus for my first solo project that the kids had to create for a parent or guardian.

I would REALLY like to be a Disney Fine Artist

So I've made a posted earlier this month that I was trying to become a Disney Fine Artist; well heres an update: I'm still trying.

Disney is a part of who I am, it holds a place in my heart that can never be replaced, its the reason why I went to school to become an artist. There are a lot of reason why anyone would want to work for this prestigious company, but I have a feeling nobody loves and has passion for the company as much as I do.

Disney is all I have ever dreamed about. Since I was a young girl just starting to draw; I knew from the first time I drew a picture Mickey Mouse, I wanted to work for the Disney Company. I would sit and watch the Oscars with my parents and say I will be up there one day winning for best animated picture (I even wrote a speech), but my passion grew and grew as I got older the more I fell in love with art the more I fell in love with Disney. The idea that each animated cell was perfectly crafted fascinated me and turned my dream into my obsession and love for this amazing company. I will never give up on trying to become a Disney Artist.

Disney is who I am....after all I was born on Walt Disney's birthday, which just adds to my love for the company and the man who created a world in which I never have to grow up.

Here are some progress shots and finish of my Alice in Wonderland piece.

Illustration Friday Yield/B is for baby bear

This weeks Illustration Friday word is yeild and though my B is for baby bear piece would work perfectly since in order to catch the butter fly the baby bear must YIELD before he makes his big move.

Bulletin Board for Spring

With spring just around the corner I changed my winter bulletin board in my class room to a spring one. I hand made everyhing and the children each painted a rain drop with their name on it. Everything is made of construction paper.

Enjoy!

Trying to Become a Disney Fine Artist

Ever since I was young I've had one thought on my mind; Disney. I knew from the very beginning when everyone was playing barbies or house saying they wanted to be teachers, I knew I wanted to work for Disney. I remember watching Peter Pan and flying away to Neverland each time I watched the film which still holds true at the age of 24. I wanted to create a Neverland a place where children can feel say and adults can feel like little children again. I as caputred by the Disney magic and still am. Ever since graduating from The University of the Arts in 2010, I have been trying to become a Disney Artist and won't stop until it kills me. Every so many months I would send emails with a statement of purpose and my personal work attached, but this time I am going to grab their attention and make them notice me, I am stepping out of my comfort zone to create something unique.

I am recreating Alice going down the rabbit hole using some Disney imagery to show them I recreate their characters in a new and fun way.

Heres what I have so far I've been working this for a week now.
